Inter Miami’s renowned leader, Lionel Messi, is poised to overshadow Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes when his team faces off against Sporting KC at Arrowhead Stadium this Saturday evening, a venue synonymous with the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
An anticipated crowd of 70,000 is expected to gather to witness one of soccer’s elite talents, a draw that typically sees Kelce and Mahomes as the main attraction, according to DailyMail.com.
Sporting KC usually competes at Children’s Mercy Park, with a capacity of approximately 18,500 spectators. Yet, the arrival of the celebrated Argentine World Cup champion prompted a change of location to the larger Arrowhead Stadium.
Messi, the captain of Miami, was on the field for the full match duration last Wednesday, marking his first full game since March 7, as his team exited the Champions Cup following a 3-1 loss to Monterrey.
“Messi emerged from the Monterrey match without any issues,” noted Miami’s assistant, Javier Morales, on Friday.
It remains unconfirmed if any Chiefs players will attend, but game tickets are being sold for about $120. Kelce and Mahomes are likely tied up with prior commitments.
Sporting KC’s head coach, Peter Vermes, expressed enthusiasm about the match’s setting, saying, “It’s an excellent choice for a match of this caliber.”
He added, “Having observed Messi since his early days, I can attest that no strategy or coach has successfully countered his extraordinary talent.”
