The tattoo depicted a charming scene: a pair of adult high heels alongside a smaller pair, clearly too big for the child who attempted to fill them. It symbolized the special connection she shared with her daughter Grier, reminiscent of the times Grier would playfully don her mother’s shoes during her childhood.
On her 18th birthday, her daughter made a unique request for her mother to get a tattoo. “You should see it,” she mentioned in an interview with The View, “It’s of her tiny foot, from when she used to stand in my high heels, pretending to be grown-up, just like I often walk around barefoot at home,” she said with a laugh.
She also shared a sweet memory from Grier’s early years, when she would excitedly chant, “Shoes, shoes, shoes!” and try to walk in her mother’s towering heels, her small foot barely reaching the front of the shoe, as the actress fondly recalled.
Shields is hesitant about her daughter’s newfound independence
The star of “Endless Love” is facing the bittersweet moment of her daughter’s coming of age. While her daughter is poised to spread her wings, Shields finds herself grappling with the prospect. “I imagined I’d feel a sense of relief, yet I’m uncertain,” she shared on a talk show. The idea of her daughter not being constantly present is an unfamiliar concept to her.
She likened the experience to venturing into unknown lands. The actress is seeking a brief respite to come to terms with her daughter’s growth, asking for a “grace period” to adjust to her daughter’s transition into young adulthood. “I need some time to get used to recognizing you as the young woman you’ve become,” Shields expressed.
