Mary Trump Applauds the Proposal for Disbarment of John Eastman, a Lawyer Involved in the Bid to Reverse the 2020 Presidential Election Outcome, Citing ‘Misconduct’.
On a recent Wednesday, Judge Yvette Roland of the State Bar issued a decision following a 2023 complaint lodged by the California State Bar against John Eastman. Judge Roland found Eastman responsible for the majority of the allegations, with 10 out of 11 counts substantiated. Despite this, Eastman, a known associate of Donald Trump, has criticized the decision and announced his intention to challenge it.
This development occurs against the backdrop of numerous legal proceedings, both civil and criminal, targeting key individuals involved in Trump’s efforts to contest his 2020 election loss to Joe Biden. Trump, who is eyeing a presidential run in 2024, continues to claim, without success in courts or among independent electoral observers, that the election was unfairly conducted.

Mary Trump, the former president’s niece, shared an excerpt from Judge Roland’s decision on a social platform, advocating for similar disciplinary measures against other lawyers from Trump’s team. She highlighted the court’s recommendation for Eastman’s disbarment due to his actions and urged for comparable consequences for Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, Mike Johnson, and others who participated in the attempt to challenge the 2020 election results.

In response to inquiries, Eastman’s representatives issued a statement asserting his belief that his post-election legal conduct was grounded in established legal precedents, historical election data, constitutional analysis, and scholarly resources. They emphasized that Eastman’s approach mirrors the standard legal process, where lawyers are expected to fervently represent their clients—a commitment Eastman takes seriously.
Eastman also commented on his personal blog, expressing his plans to appeal the ruling. He hopes higher courts will intervene to address what he perceives as a misuse of legal action that threatens fundamental rights, the representation of contentious clients, and the integrity of the justice system.
In addition to these developments, Eastman, alongside Trump and attorneys Giuliani, Powell, and Ellis, faces criminal allegations in Georgia related to their actions during the 2020 election. While Trump, Eastman, and Giuliani maintain their innocence, Powell and Ellis have entered guilty pleas as part of plea agreements.
Mary Trump, a psychologist and vocal critic of her uncle’s political endeavors, recently made remarks about Trump’s religious sincerity following his endorsement of a themed Bible. She is also preparing for the release of her new book, which delves into her life within a highly scrutinized family, scheduled for publication in the U.S. on September 10, 2024.
