April 4, The New York Rangers orchestrated a remarkable turnaround, clinching a 4-3 victory against the New Jersey Devils. The game kicked off with a full-scale line brawl, setting the tone for an intense battle on the ice.
Before the pivotal scoring moment, both teams fielded their fourth lines. Within seconds of the opening faceoff, five fights erupted, with New York rookie Matt Rempe squaring off against New Jersey defenseman Kurtis MacDermid. The heated exchanges resulted in eight players receiving game misconducts once the ice was cleared.
The brawl had deep roots in Rempe’s history with the Devils. Having been ejected from the previous two meetings, his elbow hit on Jonas Siegenthaler during the March 11 clash led to a four-game suspension.
New York Rangers completed a season sweep of Devils
Artemi Panarin, a key player for the Rangers, notched the team’s first goal and added an assist, boosting his points total to 110—the second-highest in franchise history. With this victory, the Rangers completed a season sweep of the Devils.
In another matchup, the Dallas Stars dominated the Edmonton Oilers with a 5-0 triumph. Goaltender Jake Oettinger made 35 saves, while Radek Faksa contributed a goal and two assists. Dallas now holds the top spot in the Western Conference and trails the New York Rangers by just one point in the race for the Presidents’ Trophy. Their 8-0-0 streak has seen them outscore opponents by an impressive margin of 34-11.
